Alain answers some of the most commonly asked questions about The Green Beaver Company and the environment.
How do you feel about companies that engage in greenwashing?
It churns my stomach. I talk about, and show examples of, these greenwashing products during my seminars. Some of them come from leading conventional companies. Many of these companies offer their original chemical cocktails at the same time as so-called “green” versions. In reality, it's the same chemical soup with a few plant ingredients mixed in.
How can I learn more about natural products and protecting our environment?
Well, for starters, you can read our very own magazine. You can also find a lot of useful information on these trusted websites: Environmental Defence, The Fur-Bearers, Ottawa River Keeper, etc. Follow our social feeds as we often share on various topics about the environment.
How do I know if something is truly natural and green?
The only true way is if the product is certified by a recognized organization with good standards. Examples of these are ECOCERT, BDIH and NSF.
Is your packaging recyclable?
Yes, all our packaging is recyclable. We also use Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified paper which is made from trees that have been sourced in an environmentally-friendly, socially-responsible and economically-viable manner. FSC was founded in 1993 in response to concerns about deforestation. For plastics, we only use recyclable, BPA-free plastic. We have considered using glass bottles, but it seems that most people aren't ready to have products likes shampoos in a glass bottle.
