Having a bedtime routine is so important when it comes to putting your little one to sleep. For a lot of parents, I know this can be very stressful.
Bedtime is my absolute favourite time of the day. Don’t get me wrong, I love my kid with all my heart, but I also love when he falls asleep. Once he’s tucked away in bed, I can have “mommy time”; binge watch one of my favourite TV shows, This is Us, and stuff my face with that bowl of ice cream from the night before that I promised myself I wouldn’t touch. I also love putting my son to sleep. I look forward to our goodnight kisses and a few last-minute cuddles before he dozes off.
Having a bedtime routine is so important when it comes to putting your little one to sleep. For a lot of parents, I know this can be very stressful, and I found it particularly hard when Félix was around six months old. As Félix grew older, I stayed consistent with his bedtime routine and this is why we were successful with sleep-training. The key is to stick with it and remain strong. He does have one of those rare nights where he has trouble going to sleep because of the discomfort caused by a diaper rash. This problem is usually solved with The Green Beaver Company’s Fragrance-free Diaper Cream. I highly recommend The Green Beaver Company’s Diaper Cream because it is hypoallergenic and fragrance-free.
To parents who may be struggling with bedtime routine with their little one(s), here are some insights as to how it goes down in our house when it’s time for bed, and how we’ve managed to survive this long without enduring late night “wakings” from a toddler boy who’s officially in his big boy bed —I cried the first night! Haha!
Ever since Félix was a baby, we have always given him a soothing bath before bed; a soothing bath usually leads to a goodnight’s rest. Now that he’s a busy two-year-old, we’ve kept that habit. When it comes to getting Félix down for the night, there can be a few challenges; I mean, he is a toddler! He’s always ready to play a little longer and eat a bit slower than usual. His timing is impeccable. When it’s time to clean up, that’s when he decides it’s time to play hide and seek. Before I run Félix’s bath, I have him pick up all his toys. Usually he puts them away faster when he hears the bathtub running. I always joke that he might be a little merman!

Recently, we switched Félix’s bath products to The Green Beaver Company’s baby products. I love that they fit perfectly into our nightly routine. After washing Félix with the Calming Lavender Baby Wash, I dry him off and immediately lotion him with the Calming Lavender Baby Lotion. True to the title, it is very calming. I had always heard from other moms that lavender helps babies sleep and it’s actually true. Félix is so relaxed by the time he’s in his pyjamas and he smells amazing. It’s also very important for me to find products that help keep his skin from cracking and drying out, especially during the rough Canadian winter months. The Green Beaver Company is a Canadian brand and they definitely got it right when it comes to making products for us Canadians. They pride themselves on using Canadian-grown organic products — which I love! And did I mention that they are dermatologist tested, as well as Natural and Organic Cosmetics certified, which means I’m less worried when Felix eats a few bubbles here and there during bath time...haha! They use the safest, chemical-free ingredients so I can sit back and not feel too bad!
I am so happy with the results of The Green Beaver Company baby products. They smell amazing and they’re nice and gentle for my little man’s skin. Their baby products will be in stores soon and I must say, this is a Canadian brand that you can cheer and get really excited about!
